Description
Dewi Sri is considered an important fertility goddess, especially in Bali and Java. She regulates all life, directs above all in her function as the goddess of the moon the flourishing of the food that grows on the earth and determines the death that makes plants, animals and humans return to their laps. Thus it also commands over the underworld and the other world. Above all, however, it provides food for the people and thus ensures their survival. Since rice is the main food of this region, Dewi Sri is above all the venerated rice goddess. She is portrayed as a goddess of unusual beauty. She is always portrayed as youthful, supple and slender, Basanite is a volcanic, greenish rock. The stone gets its characteristic colour from a lot of clay minerals. The small to medium sized indentations in the rock are a characteristic feature and mark the good quality of the natural stone. The sculptures are frost-resistant, but do not tolerate road salt.
