A water basin is a wonderful part of a natural garden design, it attracts lot of garden life, can be home for waterlilies and other attractive plants. Our water basin are inspired from the Japanese Tsukubai a traditional washbasin and part of the classic japanese garden design. Tsukubai were originally used in Japanese tea gardens as places for washing prior to entering tea houses for traditional tea ceremonies. The word tsukubai means “crouching bowl” or “stooping basin” and was said to have been designed to encourage humility and purity of body and mind. This hospitable gesture also signified a washing away of the cares of the world before participating in close fellowship over a simple cup of tea. As well, tsukubai is a washbasin provided at the entrance to holy place for visitors to purify themselves by the ritual washing of hands and rinsing of the mouth. This type of ritual cleansing is the custom for guests visiting the grounds of Buddist temple. In winter, during the frost period, the pool should be empty to avoid damage to the stone. Expanding ice can cause the stone to crack. The stone garden basin have a hole with 42mm (same as for European sink). The basin is provided with stopper rubber to close the hole in the basin to be able to let the water out.
